Spotify Metadata Guidelines

To ensure proper recognition by publishers, platforms like Spotify now require artists to provide their full legal name (full first and last name, with no abbreviations) when submitting a release.

You’ll need to enter your legal name in the Composer and Author fields while submitting up your release.

However, this won’t replace your artist name—your legal name will only appear in the song’s credits or lyrics section for those who choose to view them.

Detection and Resolution

As per Spotify’s requirements, we validate all deliveries to the platform.

If your release has been flagged as ineligible by our content team for not meeting these requirements, you can create a ticket and provide the full name of the Author and Composer (including both first and last name, with no abbreviations) for approval.

If the Composer or Author has a single-word name, such as “John” or “Rahul,” you must attach a valid identity proof via the ticket attachment feature for approval.
