Spotify Discovery Mode

Spotify Discovery Mode:
Spotify Discovery mode has previously been for Radio and Autoplay. Since January, Spotify Discovery Mode has been expanded to Spotify Mixes. This means your campaign will be active in Spotify Radio, Autoplay, Daily Mixes, Artist Mixes, Mood Mixes, Decade Mixes, and Genre Mixes, which you should consider when comparing campaign reports month over month, as your campaigns may reach more listeners in more contexts. More information regarding Discovery Mode is here: https://artists.spotify.com/en/discovery-mode

As you may be aware Discovery Mode gives participants the opportunity to influence Spotify’s algorithm in select personalized listening contexts. When Discovery Mode is turned on, it increases the likelihood, but does not guarantee, that songs reach listeners in these Discovery Mode contexts.

Discovery Mode doesn’t require an upfront budget. Instead, Spotify applies a 30% charge to recording royalties generated from all streams of selected songs in Discovery Mode contexts – Radio, Autoplay, Daily Mixes and Artist Mixes, Mood Mixes, Decade Mixes, and Genre Mixes. All other streams of selected songs outside of these contexts are not subject to this additional Spotify charge.

Spotify’s 30% charge is treated as a marketing cost that will be recharged in full to you. To clarify, Our commission will be calculated on the recording royalties generated from relevant streams of the songs prior to the application of Spotify’s charge. By opting eligible tracks into Discovery Mode you agree to these terms in respect of those tracks.

For further information about this please refer to Spotify’s Discovery Mode landing page and help page.

Opt-in Process

Every second half of the month Spotify allows to opt-in your eligible tracks for Discovery Mode for the following month. Our team submit all the eligible tracks for Spotify Discovery Mode by default every month.

  2. The track has more than 20 streams in Discovery Mode contexts in the last 28 days

The following content is also currently not supported by discovery mode; spoken word, podcasts, audiobooks, karaoke and soundalikes.
